Drill/Training Summary.

… Emergency Steering Drill sounded. Assigned crews summoned their stations. Commenced practice of emergency steering procedures including direct control from within the steering gear compartment, communication procedures with navigating bridge and operation of alternative power supply (Emergency diesel-generator) as per required by Regulation 19-2 (d), Chapter V, SOLAS . Operational test of and visual inspection of primary, secondary steering gear, connecting linkages, remote steering system, auxiliary power and alarms. All are in good condition. Internal control – communications and alarms. Stand by for emergency generator. Tested main propulsions, ahead and astern.

Conclusions/Evaluation.

Emergency steering drill has been conducted in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 19-2 (d), Chapter V, SOLAS. Actions of ship’s crew are satisfactory.
