CRITERIA FOR THE SHIP’S STABILITY IMO RESOLUTION A.749(18) Statical Stability Curve A – area under curve up to q = 30° to be not less than 0.055 meter-radian. B – area under curve up to q = X° to be not less than 0.
CRITERIA FOR THE SHIP’S STABILITY
IMO RESOLUTION A.749(18)
Statical Stability Curve
A – area under curve up to q = 30° to be not less than 0.055 meter-radian.
B – area under curve up to q = X° to be not less than 0.090 meter-radian.
C - area between 30° and q = X° to be not less than 0.030 meter-radian.
X – 40° or any lesser angle at which water could enter hull ( qf ).
E – max. GZ to occur at angle preferably exceeding 30° but not less than 25°, and to be at least
0.20 meters at angle equal to or greater that 30°.
F – initial GM to be not less than 0.15 meter.
qf – Angle of inclination at which openings in the hull, superstructures and deckhouse ( not
closed watertight ) immerse, and angle can be obtained from “PROGRESSIVE
FLOODING ANGLE OF HEEL”.
Stability Criteria for Bulk Cargoes
Identity | Grain As per Int.Code for the Safe Carriage of Grain in Bulk | Other Bulk Cargoes |
1.The angle of heel due to the shift of cargo shall not be greater than ___° or in the case of ships constructed on or after 1 January 1994 the angle at which the deck edge is immersed, whichever is the lesser | 12° | 12° |
2. in the statical stability diagram, the net or residual area between the heeling arm curve and the righting arm curve up to the angle of heel of maximum difference between the ordinates of the two curves, or 40° or the angle of flooding (q1), whichever is the least, shall in all conditions of loading be not less than _____ metre-radians. | 0.075 | 0.12 |
3. the initial metacentric height, after correction for the free surface effects of liquids in tanks, shall be not less than ____ m. | 0.30 | 0.70 |
