Fire science expert Tony Cheng describes the exceptional conditions that are fueling raging fires in the West. Low snowpack and drought have created a flammability factor above the 100th percentile of 25 years of measurement. It’s extraordinary – and it will likely continue. Cheng is a professor in the Department of Forest and Rangeland Stewardship in the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University.
